Gough wants Daly to stay
August 21, 2010
Dublin under-21 captain Oisin Gough has backed Anthony Daly to stay on as manager of the county's senior team for another term.
Daly has stated that he will make a decision on his future after today's All-Ireland Under-21 semi final where he is a selector for manager Richard Stakelum, with the roles reversed at senior level.
The Dubs take on Tipperary in today's semi final at Tullamore without the services of three key players as David Treacy and Shane Stapleton are ruled out through injury, while Rory O'Carroll will be lining out with the footballers in tomorrow's All-Ireland semi final against Cork.
But, Gough is hoping that a win over Tipp would convince the Clare native to stay on next year and stressed that Daly has the full backing of the dressing room to do so.
"He's an excellent manager and everyone gets on really well with him. He's the right man for the job," said Gough. "I think (U-21 success) would encourage him.
"He likes what's coming up through the ranks. He likes the set up at underage and he's very encouraged by it. It's his decision. Whether he feels the seniors are going well enough to stay on for another year, that's another story."
