Hickey tipped for Dublin selector role

October 03, 2009
Dublin football great Dr David Hickey is being strongly tipped to fill the vacancy which has arisen in manager Pat Gilroy's backroom team after selector Paul Nugent stepped down for business reasons. Hickey, who is a consultant urologist and transplant surgeon based in Beaumont Hospital, was part of the great Dublin team which won All-Irelands in 1974, '76 and '77. He also picked up two National League medals in 1976 and '78, and was awarded All-Stars in 1974 and '76.
