Costello appeals for large Dublin turnout

Dublin fans have been urged to turn out in large numbers for Sunday's Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny by county board chief executive John Costello.
The Leinster Council is predicting an attendance of no more than 30,000 for what will be Dublin's first appearance in a provincial hurling final in 18 years, but Costello is hoping that figure can be surpassed as Anthony Daly's men bid to cause a massive upset against the all-conquering Cats.
"When Anthony Daly took charge as Dublin manager, he set a few targets. The first being to record a strong league campaign, which was achieved as the team took some notable scalps. The second was to reach the Leinster final, that was achieved with our encouraging victory over Wexford in the semi-final," he said on the Hill 16 website.
"This is a very young Dublin team but an emerging team backboned by players who have tasted Leinster success at minor and/or under-21 level and will not be over-awed by the occasion. They have worked exceptionally hard this year and their efforts are deserving of the support of the Dublin public.
"There are a big few weeks coming up for Gaelic games in the capital with the senior hurlers, senior footballers, minor footballers and under 21 hurlers all in Leinster finals and the county board is hoping that the clubs and supporters can put in that extra effort beginning with the senior hurlers this Sunday.
"Obviously, Sunday will be depicted as a David versus Goliath clash but the team have been very thorough in their preparation and will give it their all for the jersey on Sunday."
