Dublin's Rory O'Carroll
Pat Gilroy is confident that Dublin debutant Rory O'Carroll will be up to the task in Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final against Westmeath.
The Kilmacud Crokes dual star is one of three changes from the side that edged out Meath, and Gilroy explained that his excellent form in training gave him the nod over Alan Hubbard.
"He's played in an All-Ireland club final, he's played in an All-Ireland under 21 football semi-final and he's played under 21 hurling," the Dublin manager pointed out.
"Rory's capacity to deal with those big-game situations was very good in all of those matches, so I wouldn't have any fears about Rory and temperament.
"It's obviously a big step-up going into inter-county football, but some of the guys he's marking out here in training are top players and he's coped very well.
"It was a very tight call between Rory O'Carroll and Alan Hubbard, but Rory has been going very well in training."
Dublin captain Paul Griffin has also given a vote of confidence to his Kilmacud Crokes club-mate.
"Rory's a very good footballer. He came in later to our club team last year, but he's performed really well," he said.
"He attacks the ball well from the full back line, and gives it off nice and easy. I think that's exactly what he'll do on Sunday. He doesn't need to change his game at all for this match. Rory will do just fine."
