O'Carroll named in Dublin intermediate side

June 24, 2009

Dublin dual star Ross O"Carroll
Ross O'Carroll will be out to impress Anthony Daly tonight after being named in the Dublin team to face Kilkenny in the Leinster IHC semi-final. It will be O'Carroll's first inter-county hurling game of the year, having been unavailable until now due to his club football commitments with Kilmacud Crokes and injury. He had his appendix removed four weeks ago, but has recovered to take his place at wing forward for the Nowlan Park clash. If O'Carroll impresses, he could force his way into the reckoning for a place on the Dublin senior side that faces Kilkenny in the Leinster final on Sunday week. Mick May, Paul Garbutt and Barry O'Rorke from the Dublin under 21 team which has reached the Leinster final have also been included in the starting XV, as has former Limerick player Maurice O'Brien, who partners team captain Philip Brennan at midfield. Dublin (IHC v Kilkenny): A Nolan; M May, K Ryan, R Trainor; G O'Meara, T Sweeney, D O'Reilly' P Brennan (captain), M O'Brien; P Garbutt, P O'Driscoll, R O'Carroll; B O'Rorke, J Kelly, S Mullan.
