McCrabbe in fitness battle

Dublin's Alan McCrabbe
Dublin hurling boss Anthony Daly is sweating on the fitness of Alan McCrabbe ahead of the Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny on July 5. The star midfielder injured his left knee in the closing stages of last Sunday's semi-final victory over Wexford, and will find out today the extent of the injury after he had a scan in Beaumont Hospital yesterday. "We don't know the nature of Alan's injury for sure until we get the results of the scan, but I am worried," Daly said. "It was something with his knee, we gave it every chance to try and keep him on the field, but he had to come off which was an awful loss." Daly can ill-afford to be without the Craobh Chiarain man for the historic meeting with the All-Ireland champions as he has been arguably Dublin's top performer in the championship to date. The Dubs are already without Ronan Fallan, who has a broken metatarsal, while centre forward Liam Ryan was a late withdrawal on Sunday with a recurrence of a calf injury.
