Dubs chairman urges fans to support hurlers
June 23, 2009
Dublin chairman Gerry Harrington has called on fans to turn out in large numbers for next month's Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny.
Harrington wants to see at least 40,000 supporters in Croke Park on July 5 for what will be Dublin's first appearance in a provincial hurling final since 1991. The hurlers have a very small support base compared to their football counterparts, but Harrington is hopeful that is about to change.
The Cork native has also urged Dublin fans to arrive at Croke Park in plenty of time for Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final against Westmeath which he expects to draw 80,000 supporters.
"I'm appealing for our supporters to get to the ground early. The match is at 4pm."
