Football
SFL - Burren 0-9 v Clonduff 1-13
Clonduff were simply sublime in Burren on Wednesday night (18th April). Burren got the first two points and Clonduff had difficulty in getting the ball over the halfway line in the early stages of the game but once they got going they were hard to stop. The teamwork, hunger and covering back were a joy to watch and every single man worked so hard for the team. Despite firing seven wides in the first half Clonduff led 1-6 to 0-4 at half time. There was a terrible mix-up in the Burren backs for a bootless Finbarr to round the keeper and tap the ball into the net. Three of Burren's scores came from frees. Everybody was expecting an onslaught from the homeside when they put their county players on at half time but despite getting the first score it was Clonduff that ran the show - they fired over seven point to Burren's five - two from frees.
The only downside was Paul McConville and Paul McPolin going off injured - we wish you both well and hope your injuries are not as serious as they looked. The plus factor about this was that their replacements, John McPolin and Paddy McGreevy slipped easily into the set-up and looked as if they had been part of the team from the start.

RFL Clonduff III v Shamrocks
Sunday (22nd April) saw the first match in the Reserve Football League (v Shamrocks at home) although it ended in a defeat there were a lot of positives, some promising displays from our young players coming through, quality from the more senior players, and the long waited return of Ciarán McGreevy. The match was a lot closer than the score line suggests Clonduff 0-88 Shamrocks 2-12

U16 League v Burren.
Clonduff U16s played their 3rd match in the All County Division 1 League on Thursday 19th at Clonduff Park. The Clonduff boys were looking to build on their previous good performance against Castlewellan and record their second successive victory. In a very competitive opening the home side had the better of the exchanges but some great defending from the visitors together with a few squandered opportunities meant that the game was level at 3 points a piece after 20 mins. The major score of the 1st half came from the visitors 5 minutes before the break when a Clonduff attack broke down and the ball was transferred quickly to the other end where a penalty was given after a rash tackle by the home defence. Expertly converted by Ryan Treanor the teams exchanged a minor score each and the visitors went in 2 points ahead at the break 1-03 to 0-04.
Burren dominated the first 10 minutes of the second but seemed to suffer like the home side had done in the first half. Great defending and poor shooting kept the home team in a game they just could not get into. The turning point came when after some great tackling by the forwards Lorcan Brannigan seized on a ball, showed great calmness and thumped the ball to the net. The boys really kicked on from here, playing entertaining football and showing a great work ethic throughout the field they finished the deserved victors 1-12 to 2-03. Well done to all.
