Senior Football-The Seniors played two games last week with contrasting fortunes in each, In the first game they overcame Attical 1-7 to 0-8 at Ardtole last Monday evening, the game was played in the midst of torrential rain and a gale of wind, Neither side adapted well to the stormy condition with the score 0-4 a piece at the break, the game remained nip and tuck throughout the second half with the visitors leading by a point with minutes remaining Michael Magee rifled the ball to the net to claim the two points.

In the second game Ardglass suffered a heavy defeat away to table toppers Newry Bosco, as earlier in the season the concession of goals early in the game ended the game as a contest as the Newry men eased to %-15 to 2-4 victory.

Reserve Football-The Reserve team under the management of Kieran Shields and Edward Magee made a good start to their league campaign with a 1-14 to 1-9 victory away to Carryduff on Sunday evening. In a nip and tuck game a strong final quarter saw Ardglass hold out for a five-point win. Carryduff took an early two point lead with first point being parried over the bar by goalkeeper Paul O Shea, however Ardglass were soon back in front with a well taken goal from Barry Flynn and points from Philip Curran, Matthew O Shea and Eamon Trimble on his first game for Ardglass. Carryduff finished the half strong however a series of wides and resolute defending from David Kearney and David Pullen saw Ardglass go into the break 1-5 to 0-5 up.

The opening ten minutes of the second half again saw Carryduff launch a strong comeback to score 1-2 unanswered to take the lead, however Ardglass lifted they game as Midfielders Stephen Moore and David Armstrong again taking control providing a great platform for the forward line to score seven points unanswered to regain the lead, the introduction of minor Michael Clarke and the moving of David Pullen to the forward line added some pace to the attack which Carryduff found difficult to match. In the final minutes Carryduff attempted another comeback scoring a couple of frees while goalkeeper O Shea was forced to back a point blank save in the dying minutes to maintain the five-point gap.

Minor Football-The Minors travelled to Bright last Tuesday to take on the amalgamated team of Bright and Kilclief. In an entertaining game the home side made Ardglass work all the way for their 3-7 to 1-9 victory. Brendan McEvoy was forced three fantastic saves, while Cavan Flynn and David Armstrong where resolute in the full back line dominating their direct opponents, the half back line was well marshalled by Shane Taggert, Midfield was well balanced with Mick McConville playing a holding role allowing the creative Mark Cahir to support the attacks with regular frequency. Roving half Forward John Feenan covered every blade of grass over the hour, In the Full forward line Mark Magennis showed great awareness and bravery to flick two balls to the net while Mark Deegan displayed good accuracy from frees. Throughout the hour Ardglass showed great determination and composure to ensure they gained their first victory of the season.

U16 Football-following a fine away victory last week Ardglass failed to gain their first home win of the season, falling to a heavy defeat to a physically stronger Drumaness team. The visitors took an early lead and 2-4 before Ardglass replied, the home side never recovered from this early set back, however they battled to the end with encouraging displays from Jason Curran and Padraig McGirr. Full time Ardglass 1-4 Drumaness 5- 14.

U14 Football-Ardglass travelled to Carryduff last Wednesday and brought their scoring boots with them as they eased to a 5-12 to 1-5 victory, Corey Mahon commanded the defence and also added to the attack on several occasions, Luke Mulhall scored 3-4 however he also contributed to many other scores as he demonstrated great playmaking skills to bring others into play throughout setting Caolain O Shea up for a well worked goal. Joel Wills came of the bench to score 1-1. The full squad contributed to this victory with bullish defending providing the creative forward line plenty of quality ball rack up a high scoring tally.

Go Games Blitz-On Saturday morning Ardglass hosted Drumaness and Ballykinlar in a mixed U10 & U8 blitz. All the Ardglass players showed that they where working hard in training, displaying many of the skills they had worked on over the previous six weeks. Several players made their Debuts at this grade, with Fintan Rocks, Conor Laird, Josh Montgomery and Andrew Addis all following in their father s footsteps, in wearing the Green and Yellow Jersey. Abby Byrne gave a great display of high catching and scoring against Ballykinlar scoring 5 points, while both Dylan Addis and Niall Morrison recovered from an early head clash to put in colossal defensive performances. Flinn Morgan showed wonderful composure and skill to evade two Drumaness defenders to slot the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.
