Clonduff Club Notes

January 25, 2012
Condolences to the Murnin Family on the death of Stephen - a former stalwart of Clonduff and Cabra football teams. May he rest in Peace.

Vandalism at Clonduff
Between 11pm on Tuesday 17th and 9am on Wednesday 18th January 2012 mindless vandals entered Clonduff Juvenile pitch in cars (or heavier vehicles) and created havoc by doing 'donuts' in many areas of the pitch. In a couple of places there are gouges six inches deep and underground drains have been damaged. We believe that these people are from the area or close proximity and someone knows who they are - the vehicles were bound to be clogged with muck as the field was quite wet and large chunks of soil were carried out onto the tarmac. The people of Clonduff and particularly the youngsters are the losers here - this is the pitch that is used for juvenile training and games up to age 16. The pitch is unusable just as the new season is about to get under way. If you or someone you know has any information we in Clonduff would treat the matter in confidence. Don't let our young people be the losers!

Handball
Congratulations to 15 year old Shane Milligan who won the U16 County Handball title on Friday 20th January 2012 - this is Shane's 4th in a row title winning U13, U14 and U15 titles in successive years. Well done Shane!
Clonduff also had competitors in U12 Singles (Eamonn Brown), U12 Doubles (Charlie Kerr and Jude Campbell) and U13 Singles (Lyndon Brown who was unfortunately ill on the night of the final)
Scór Sinsir 2012
Best wishes to the Clonduff competitors who take part in the first Scór Sinsir Semi Final in Annaclone on Friday 27th January. Clonduff is taking part in Ceili and Set Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation and Quiz. Good Luck everybody!

County Final - Sunday 26th February
Congratulations to St Mark's High School Warrenpoint who are the first team into the U14 Schools Final - they had a comprehensive win over Inver College Carrickmacross (Monaghan Champions) on Wednesday. There are ten Clonduff boys on the panel
Juvenile Hurling
U10/12 Hurling Training in Youth Club on Thursday nights 7-8 pm. Clonduff currently have two teams participating in the Indoor Hurling League and have teams entered into the U10 and U12 Go Games.
McKenna Cup
No joy for Down in the McKenna Cup Semi Final on Sunday afternoon in Armagh - they were defeated 0-11 to 0-9 by Derry. Aidan Carr scored 5 frees; Arthur McConville who played the last 10 minutes scored a delightful left-footed free and punched one over the bar from the edge of the square. That was one of the few highlights for Down supporters - the backs, on both teams were guilty of committing far too many fouls!
Down Draw - Hopefully you got your ticket in time!
First Monthly Draw - 25th January - and on 25th of every month thereafter!
