McCartan not impressed

Down manager James McCartan rallies his troops
Down manager James McCartan described his side's performance against St. Mary's last night as "putrid".
Despite being held to a draw, Down progressed to a McKenna Cup semi-final against Derry at the weekend when McCartan will, no doubt, but hoping for a return to the form that saw the Mournemen easily dispose of Armagh and Monaghan in the first two rounds of the competition.
"I think first and foremost, we should not give the punters their money back but we should have a whip-round in the Down dressing room and send them home with a bit more than they came with," he said.
"It was a putrid game to watch and we obviously contributed hugely to that. I don't think you could blame St. Mary's for doing what they were doing, they were playing to their strengths.
"We just had a complete lack of ideas on how to break them down. Basically St. Mary's set up very similar to what Donegal do, which is what we have to face in the first round of the league, so it wouldn't bode well."
