* The U14 footballers lost the 'A' Final by a big margin to Shamrocks. Shamrocks have already won the league above us so the result was no great surprise but it should not take away from the heroic and skilful efforts of the boys in getting there in the first place. An Riocht played really hard to keep the Newry team to a 1-9 to 0-1 interval lead and though we were never going to stage a comeback, the loss of captain and midfielder Nathan McComiskey injured just before the break was a cruel blow. An Riocht played away with full back Kory Colgan and keeper Stephen Doran combining for a real goal chance in the second half and later substitute Liam Rodgers crashed a shot off the bar. After the match the team and parents went back to the club for something to eat. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the team fund especially AV Coaches who supplied the kitbags. Team: Stephen Doran; Aidan Sloan, Kory Colgan, Andrew Harper; Kevin Doran, Stephen Mc Dowell, Ben Rafferty; Nathan Mc Comiskey, John Paul Farrell; Deaglan Morgan 0-1, Jack Walker, Ronan White; Stephen Flood, Michael O' Rourke, Darragh Campbell 0-1. Subs Michael Harper, Liam Rodgers, Shane Cunningham, Thomas Sloan.

* An Riocht will run a Social & Recreational GAA event at Dunavil on this Saturday afternoon / evening, 4th September 2010, from 4pm.Recreational / Social GAA is an opportunity for all members of the Association to participate in a fun, non-competitive environment. It offers fun, enjoyment, exercise, a means to health & fitness and provides a valuable social outlet, the chance to renew friendships and the opportunity for past players/members to get reacquainted with the club.

It is intended for anyone who does not currently represent their club on the field of play and incidental contact only, no shouldering, is allowed. Also there are allowed only two touches maximum (one solo and/or one bounce), and whoever is fouled takes the free. Teams are seven-a-side from a panel of ten and entertainment, hot food and a presentation will take place immediately after the event, approx 8pm. A collection will be taken up for charity. All players are informed that they are not covered by any insurance policy (unless they have their own private insurance) if they get injured. You play at your own risk. The incidental contact only rule is applied to lower the risk of injury. This project is approved by Down & Ulster GAA Gaelic Games for All. An amazing 20 teams from all over the County have signaled their intent to play in this inaugural competition.

* The U16 footballers beat Ballyholland at Dunavil.

* The U14 footballers beat Saval at Dunavil.

* At the Senior Football League in Bryansford An Riocht lost a game that could have been won. An Riocht gifted Bryansford two goals and trailed 2-7 to 0-5 at the break having hit some horrendous wides. A spirited start to the second half capped by a well taken Kieran McVeigh goal cut the deficit to three points but we continued to miss too many chances and eventually Bryansford came again with a late flurry of scores for a flattering 3-10 to 1-9 win. This was the last game the team will have to play without their County players.

* A group of seventy travelled in two buses to Dublin on Sunday to see Down beat Kildare and reach the All Ireland Final. A hard core of twenty young people have attended every National League and Championship match this year cheering on our boys in red and black. Well done Brendan, James, John and Martin, it was great to see them all get match time in the All Ireland semi-final and well done to Conor who decorated the Club to mark the occasion.
