Evans delighted with first point

Tipperary football manager John Evans
John Evans was delighted with Tipperary's battling performance which earned them their first league point of the season against high-flying Down.
"The boys deserved it. They played well, refused to be overawed and showed great commitment," he enthused.
"We would have been pretty sick not to have taken something out of this game. Down are flying high. They have five points out of six. We felt that maybe Down were too confident and that maybe we could catch them here tonight. We almost did it."
The Premier County boss added: "In a way, we are an experienced enough team. They might be young but they have played a lot of football. We're not that innocent anymore. We have learnt a little and we can adapt to things on the field."
