Hughes to miss Tipp game

Down's Danny Hughes
Down attacker Daniel Hughes has been ruled out of this Saturday's night Division Two clash against Tipperary at Newry as he will be acting as best man at team-mate Ronan Sexton's wedding.

Along with Hughes, Paul Murphy is also likely to miss out for James McCartan's team due to a sprained ankle, but midfielder Kalum King is set to be fit for the game at Pairc Elser after recovering from a bout of food poisoning.

"We had to release Danny to do best man for Ronan Sexton," said McCartan.

"Danny will be making speeches on Saturday night when we're trying to perform against Tipperary, and I'm hoping that some of the other boys will be able to attend the wedding later on with a decent result under their belt."

Down and Tipperary have endured contrasting starts to their NFL campaigns after their promotion from Division Three last year, with the Mourne men having picked up two wins from their first two games, while the latter are joint bottom with Westmeath after losing their first two games.
