Donegal's Karl Lacey
Karl Lacey hopes to make his return to the Donegal colours in Sunday evening's challenge match against Mayo in Swinford.

The All Star defender, who returned to training last week after being sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring problem, is eager to get some game-time under his belt before Donegal's opening Ulster SFC defence against Cavan on May 20.

"The good news is that Karl had no reaction after last week, but we'll see how he goes tonight and again on Friday night at training before we make a call on his fitness," Donegal manager Jim McGuinness explained to the Donegal Democrat.

"Hopefully he'll be able to play some part because with Cavan just two weeks away we will be anxious for as many of those injured players that have been out through injury to get some game-time."

McGuinness, who is already resigned to being without team captain Michael Murphy for the Cavan game, revealed that Christy Toye, Neil Gallagher (both Achilles), Eamon McGee and Barry Dunnion (both hamstrings) are in a race against time to be fit for the Kingspan Breffni Park showdown.
