Big weekend for Ardara's Connie

May 04, 2012
Ardara man Connie Molloy is hoping to manage New York to an historic Connacht SFC victory over Sligo in Gaelic Park on Sunday.

Connie, who is a brother of Donegal's 1992 All-Ireland winning captain Anthony, has three sons of the New York panel - CJ, Shane and Conor. He is in his first year as New York manager, having replaced another Donegal man - Cresslough's Seamus Sweeney - in the role at the start of the year. Two years ago, Sweeney came within a whisker of guiding the Exiles to a shock win over Galway, and no doubt Molloy will be hoping to go one better this year.

"We are definitely not going to lie down, so we are hoping to come out on the end of a good result," he said.

"It's home ground and we are used to it, so it should definitely be an advantage. And if you get the temperature up, it definitely wouldn't suit any team coming out that's used to playing on the softer ground (Gaelic Park has a synthetic surface)."
