Work on Centre of Excellence to continue

August 27, 2010
The Donegal county board received good news this week after it was confirmed that they can continue with work on their new Centre of Excellence.

There were concerns that the archaeological finds at the Centre's Convay site, which were ancient cooking sites, would bring a halt to the development and also that any archaeological excavation would be very costly.

However, Development Officer, Michael McMenamin confirmed that this wouldn't be the case.

"We have been told by the Department that we can cover over the archeological finds and they will not require any further excavation," Mr McMenamin told the Donegal Democrat newspaper.

Mr McMenamin also stated that work is progressing very well and that plans to seed out the pitches for October is still on target.
