Cloughaneely comfortably secured their place into the semi-finals of the county intermediate football championship on Sunday last with an eight-point victory over St Nauls.

Played at the Naomh Mhuire Banks, the winners assumed control early on in this match as they registered some early points before Brian Cuffe tucked away the game's only goal midway through the half to help his side towards a 1-4 to 0-2 half-time lead.

Stephen Griffin fired over a brace of points early on in the restart to bring the difference down to a goal but that was as good as it got for the Saints, as they cut clear with scores from Joe Boyce, Denis Boyle and Sean McGarvey.

Despite finishing with 13 men, Cloughaneely held on for a comfortable victory and a semi-final meeting with Naomh Columba at the end of the month. Tweet
