Donegal's Michael Murphy
Donegal target man Michael Murphy looks set to be invited to AFL trials in Australia next November by agent Ricky Nixon.

Nixon was in Newbridge on Sunday to watch Murphy, who he has expressed much interest in and was in attendance at last week's camp in Gormanston, against Kildare in the NFL and he was once more impressed by the full-forward.

"I watched him on Sunday in what was a very poor quality game, though he did play well and did pose a threat," Nixon told the Irish Daily Mirror.

"Whatever is going to happen in relation to Michael Murphy and any other players on the Donegal panel will be done through John Joe Doherty.

"If Michael is to go to Australia it will obviously be his own choice but I have also assured John Joe Doherty that it will not be during the playing season and it now looks if Michael is to go out it will be in November."

Donegal boss Doherty confirmed that he had spoken to Nixon last week and said: "I received assurance from Ricky Nixon when we spoke last Thursday that if he is going to take Michael Murphy or any other player it would be in the closed season and he was happy to agree to that."
