SFC Qualifier: Donegal survive Carlow scare

Donegal 2-13 Carlow 1-6 Three weeks after their shock defeat at the hands of Antrim, Donegal put a dismal first half showing behind them to escape overcome Carlow at Ballybofey on Saturday evening. John Joe Doherty's side looked in trouble for long spells of the opening 35 minutes, with Carlow opening up a three-point lead following JJ Smyth's well-taken goal on ten minutes. The home side rallied to level at the break and the game turned irrevocably in their favour within two minutes of the restart, when Stephen Griffin combined with Rory Kavanagh and the latter rattled to net. Conal Dunne added a second goal as Donegal cut loose and with ace freetaker Michael Murphy proving reliable from placed balls throughout, the Ulster men closed out a 10-point victory by the final whistle.
