Kavanagh seeks redemption
July 04, 2009
Rory Kavanagh says Donegal are eager to redeem themselves in today's All-Ireland first round qualifier against Carlow.
John Joe Doherty's charges were dumped out of the Ulster SFC by an unheralded Antrim team three weeks ago, and the Donegal captain admitted that the players are still hurting from the defeat.
"I suppose this is a good chance to redeem ourselves a bit, but even if we win, it will still not make up for losing against Antrim," Kavanagh said.
"We haven't done well in the Ulster championship and this year we were really targeting it. Although the backdoor is there to fall back on, it's not the same.
"Everybody can say Donegal should be winning this match, but it's up to us to go out and perform on the day. At this stage, we're sick of talking about it, we just want to get out there.
"It's not about looking to one or two players to perform, we need 15 players performing. Every man has to stand up. There's no place to go now if you lose."
