Results Junior B Championship MacCumhaills 1-9 Malin 1-04 Fixtures U14 Div 1 League St Eunans A Vs MacCumhaills 24/06/09 @7,30pm Fun Day On Saturday last there was a full day of games on MacCumhaill Park. The day started with blitz for U12 football and Hurling skills competitions. The "Stars" of the future showed the great coaching work been done at this level every week and how much hard work and practice all these young players put into perfecting their skills of both Football and Hurling. In the evening then "Stars" of era's gone by took to the field and provided some great entertainment to all who came out to support. On the field Stranorlar featured former greats in Jimmy Phair, Liam Crumlish, Luke Gavigan Dessie McFeely, and Club Chairman Terry O'Reilly. Ballybofey took to the field with legendry stars like PJ McGowan, Sean "Farrah" Gallen, Noel McGowan Gerard McDermott, Paul Finn Jim Doherty and Top scorer on the day Noel McGowan. The game played in a good spirit was refereed well by Kieran McShea although Stranorlar were aggrieved that a clear trip on the Club Chairman went unpunished in the first half. Both Team Managers Margaret and Denise were happy with the overall performance from all who togged out. After the match everyone moved upstairs with some of the older players having to use the lift where the Barbeque and refreshments were in big demand. Thanks to everyone who turned out to support and helped out in any way for making the whole day an enjoyable one. Social Centre The centre will be open Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday this week with all GAA games shown live in the Bar. Teams Underage Football for all 7,8 and 9 year olds Training for all 7,8,9 year olds in MacCumhaill Park every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 6.45pm. New recruits are still welcome to come and learn the skills of Gaelic football. U12 Ladies Football Well done to the U12 ladies who defeated St Michaels at home on Saturday evening. Training continues on Friday Evenings at 7.30. Any players interested in playing can contact Peter Moloney on 087-2363337 Ladies U 14 & U16 Training continues on Monday's at 5.30pm at MacCumhaill Park. 3rd Team Football Well done to our Senior 3rd team who got their championship campaign off to a great start with a win over Malin 1-09 to 1-04 on Saturday Evening. This result was based on great defence and hard work out the field. With the younger players working well with the more senior boys Gavin Doherty, Michael lynch Andrew Doherty and Ian Patton had all great games on Saturday night. Having started the season with 2 defeats this Team is starting to find form with 2 wins in their last 2 games. Training continues on Wednesday nights at 8.30pm. Fundraising Club Draw - 18,000 in Prizes Ticket are available for Club Draw to help with funding of our new Clubhouse. Tickets are priced at 20 or 3 for 50 with a total prize fund of 18,000 and a top prize of 10,000. The Draw will take place on Saturday 5th September.
