Enda Lynn believes the players should have an input into who becomes the next Derry senior football manager.

Brian McIver stepped down following the Oak Leaf's elimination from the championship on Saturday night and Lynn says the players should now be consulted regarding potential successors:

"I would be a firm believer of letting players give an option of managers who they feel could push them that wee bit further," he comments in The Irish Independent.

"A lot of players could choose a shortlist and let the County Board decide who is the right man for the job after that.

"Some players weren't committing to Brian, there were boys leaving for America and so on. It really didn't help him."
