Derry pulled off a surprise in the Clones curtain-raiser when dethroning champions Donegal in the Ulster MFC semi-final.

In a dramatic finish, Conor Doherty spurned a chance to snatch a late victory for Donegal when pointing an injury-time penalty and the Oak Leafers held on for a minimum margin victory.

Derry went in at the break with a 0-5 to 0-3 lead at the halfway stage and a converted Ethan O'Donnell free gave them a four point cushion on the three quarter hour mark.

The influential Conor Glass and Rory Carr traded points approaching the full-time whistle and Derry looked to have one foot in the final when holding a two point lead as the contest entered injury-time.

They breathed a massive sigh of relief, however, when Doherty pointed the penalty and their reward is a final date against Cavan on Sunday, July 19th.
