Lynn: Derry pacing themselves

Enda Lynn says Derry are pacing themselves this year rather than going hell for leather in the league.

The Oak Leaf County endured a miserable championship in 2014, having contested the national league final. This time around, they have gained just one point from three Division One outings to date.

"Derry, as people have been saying, probably have focussed on the league in the last few years," the Greenlough clubman comments in The Deryr Post.

"This year we've taken the foot off the pedal a wee bit in our league preparations and we're waiting for the championship before we really put the foot down this year."

Regarding Saturday night's draw in Omagh, the half forward added: "In the last few weeks, we've put in a big shift in traning and upped the tempo there. We thought we had to get two points; we're very, very disappointed we didn't get two.

"Anything away from home's a bonus. We're disappointed we didn't get two but one's better than nothing.

"We were four points up with seven minutes to go and we thought we could hold out. We were a man down, which didn't help and put the pressure on."
