The decision by the Central Hearings Committee to uphold Mark Lynch's one-game ban has left Derry manager Brian McIver flabbergasted.

Lynch was sent off during the defeat to Kerry in the last round of the league, and the decision was appealed. However, the CHC stated that the video evidence shown was 'not sufficiently compelling to contradict the referee's report' and Lynch will now miss this weekend's local derby against Tyrone.

McIver admitted his shock at the CHC's decision to the County Derry Post, which he feels could set a precedence for the remainder of the year.

"I'm flabbergasted that that's the way it turned out," said McIver. It obviously sets the standard for a lot of decisions for the rest of the season."
