Kearney: we keep improving

Slaughtneil assistant manager John Joe Kearney feels that the side is improving with every performance.

Last weekend, the Derry champions brushed aside the challenge of Clontibret in the Ulster semi final to qualify for their first provincial decider where they will face Tyrone champions Omagh in the decider.

Kearney admitted to the County Derry Post that they will have to keep improving if they are to see off Omagh in the final.

"Every game we have improved. I go back a long number of years to a Ballerin team that won a Derry championship. They were just an ordinary enough team, but they won it, improved with every game, and got to an All-Ireland final and lost it narrowly," said Kearney.

"They were the most improved team that I can remember. That maybe augurs well for us well, we're improving with every game and we hope we win the next one."

He added: "Omagh will be another big one. I sort of expected Omagh to get the upper hand. That'll be another test, they're a good team."
