Emmett McGuckin is committed to lining out for the Derry footballers in 2015, despite being currently based in Birmingham.

The Magherafelt clubman is on a placement year in Birmingham University as part of his studies for a PGCE in teaching, but intends returning home for games in the New Year.

"I'll try to balance it," the attacker told the Irish News.

"I'm still involved this year. I won't be playing McKenna Cup, but by all means I'll be involved come the league.

"At the minute, I'm not home that much. It'll be up to Brian (McIver) then what happens come the league, but for the meantime I'm still involved."
