Michael Davitt club notes

October 28, 2014

The tarmacing has now been completed and will serve the club and its members for many years to come. The project came in under budget and allowed the club to tarmac a greater area than was initially intended. The lower carpark beside the hall changing rooms and drive way to lower pitch have also been completed as a result. A big thank you must go to John and Eamon McKenna who did a great job on the preparation and Orla McGirr (nee McNicholl) who designed the drainage required.

The U21 footballers played Glen in the semi final of the South Derry U21 championship at Davitt Park on Saturday night. The Davitts started brightly with the wind as Paul McAtamney and James Kearney pointed early on. Glen established a period of dominance and raced into an eight point lead. But pointed frees from James Kearney and one from play from Brian Diamond to Swatragh trailing 1-09 to 0-06 at the break. A The Davitts started the second half brightly and managed to reduce the arrears to two points with points from Paul McAtamney, Sean F Quinn and James Kearney. A second Glen goal from Danny Tallon halted Swatragh's momentum and despite a spirited fight back Glen won out on a scoreline of 2-15 to 0-13.
