Derry ace Ruairi Convery says Antrim shouldn't get free passage to the Ulster SHC final.
The Oak Leaf County entertain the Glensmen in Sunday's northern provincial decider at Owenbeg and Convery - who bagged 1-11 in his side's semi-final replay win over Down - is the latest to question the format of the competition:
"It's not really a championship when one team progresses straight to the final," he observes in The Irish News. "Why not have an open draw?
"You look at the FA Cup - you don't put Man United straight into the final. Why not let everyone get a chance and try and give the final a bit of a lift, and try to promote it again?
"They tried it a few years ago. They had all the teams playing in the Ulster championship and that gave it a bit of a lift, but it was scrapped again and went back to just the three or four teams.
"It's going to have to be looked at. Even for Antrim, going straight into the final, I don't know what sort of esteem they hold it in either."
