Cailean O'Boyle is hoping Derry can prolong their involvement in the Dr McKenna Cup with victory over Donegal in Ballybofey tonight.
A win would see the Oak Leafers reach the last four and the big full forward, who has scored 0-10 in their two outings to date, believes another game in the pre-season competition will stand them in good stead for their NFL opener against Galway on February 5.
"We set out to win every game. We will be going up there to win," he said in the Irish News.
"We want another game in the McKenna Cup before the league. That's our intention. You can do all the training you like, but it is the matches you need.
"Our scoring rate improved against Jordanstown. Our backs were against the wall a bit before Paddy (Bradley) came on and got the goal. We scored 1-16, scored 13 points in the first match (against Cavan). We will be looking to keep that sort of scoring rate up against Donegal, improve on it hopefully."
