All roads led to Castletown Geoghegan on Saturday last where our boys took on Maryland/Tang in the Division 2 County Final. Maryland/Tang started strong with hitting the net twice in the first few minutes of the game but Shandonagh remained calm and kept pushing up the field taking their points when possible. Maryland/Tang went in at half time a point ahead.
Shandonagh started the second half stronger and were a point ahead when we had a goal disallowed. Maryland/Tang brought the game back to a draw but Shandonagh pushed ahead, scoring 4 consecutive points before we were reduced to 13 men. Maryland/Tang didn't give up and scored a couple of great points but Shandonagh's dominance in the middle of the field ensured they held onto the lead and came out eventual winners. Shandonagh 0-16 Maryland/Tang 2-05.
Huge congratulations to everyone involved, the hard work paid off. Hard luck to Maryland/Tang, it was thrilling game.

Tang registered the first score of the second half but Brian Kavanagh responded with a fine point followed by another from Tom Molloy. This was quickly followed by a Tang goal. It was 1-11 to 1-07 with 8 minutes to go. Tang managed to break the defence line again and hit the back of the net with 2 minutes of normal time to play. Shandonagh did not take the foot off the gas and scored two points in extra time. Final score Shandonagh 1-15 Tang 2-07.
