SENIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RELEGATION FINAL

Raheen Senior Footballers will be competing in the Senior B Championship next year as they held on to their Senior status by beating St Brigids in the Senior B Relegation Final last Friday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-06.As the scoreline suggests scores were at a premium with both sides determinned not to give anything away. It took until the 9th min for the opening score a pointed free from Raheen's Richie Reynolds. Thereafter for the remainder of the half Raheen added 4 more points to St Brigids 2 so at the break Raheen led 0-05 to 0-02. Within 2 mins of the re-start St Brigids had slotted over the first 2 points to cut the deficit to the minmum and by the 10th min a further 2 points to Raheen's 1 had the sides level. Raheen's midfield partnership of Declan Byrne & Mark Gorman combined over the next 5 mins with a point apiece to put Raheen back in front and this how it remained until the last 4 mins when a points double from Richie Renolds sealed it for Raheen. The wides tally almost mathed the scoreline (9 to 7 in favour of Raheen) so Raheen were worthy winners on the night.
