Kilmessan 1-7 V Na Fianna 1-5
This was a very closely contested competition with only two points dividing the teams on the final whistle. Underground conditions also added to the play with misty rain falling throughout the game.
Kilmessan's Lauren Gorman was a constant danger when in possession, Na Fianna's Leah Divine gave an outstanding performance with solo runs, blocking and shooting and her never die attitude helped in being awarded Player of the Match.
Both teams battled well with some great defensive play from both goalies Niamh Caroll and Mary Reilly Na Fianna, also Clare Reynolds for Na Fianna clearing some very important ball from her back line. Kilmessans first goal came a minute into injury time of the first half and gave the eventual winners a 1-4 to 0-4 interval lead.
Kilmessan needed the experience of substitute Aileen Donnelly to help her team move forward in the second half. Veteran Donnelly sent over two crucial points from frees. Na Fianna could have closed out this game with the two penalties that were awarded with in the final quarter, but it was Kilmessan that finished stronger to seal victory.
