FL Div 3: Ultans on a roll

St Ultans 1-15 Kilmainhamwood 0-14

St Ultans followed up their championship win on Sunday against Syddan with victory over Kilmainhamwood on Wednesday night in the A League.

St Ultans started brightly and took advantage of the wind to race into a 1-5 to no score lead with  brace of points from Mark Allen and Cian Rennicks, a point from Emmet Costello and a well finished goal from wing back Alan Martin who finished low and hard to the net after a good run. Kilmainhamwood responded well with 4 of the next 5 scores but Ultans regained their compusure to finish the half strongly with points from Kevin Galligan, Mark Allen and a free and 45 from Ronan Breslin. Kilmainhamwood scored the last point of the half to leave the score 1-10 to 0-5 but Ultans could have extended their lead but the Kilmainhamwood keeper pulled off a fine save from a Cian Rennicks penalty after Breslin was fouled.

Kilmainhamwood enjoyed the better of the second half taking advantage of the breeze but a brace of points from Kevin Galligan and Mark Allen and a free from Cian Rennicks ensured they couldn't close the gap and Ultans ran out 4 point winners at the final whistle. Next up in A League for St Ultans is Clann Na Gael.
