The Fourth Annual Michael 'Bammel' Malone U12 football blitz will take place on 10th June in Cooley Kickhams GFC.
This blitz is in memory of the great clubman Michael was to Cooley Kickhams.
He was part of the greatest Cooley Kickhams teams of the 1970s and he captained the club in 1977 to the Louth senior championship.
After he finished playing he got involved in every aspect in club matters especially the juvenile section.
Sadly he passed away five years ago and his family has donated a cup and shield in his memory which is played every June with clubs all over Ireland taking part. This year it has expanded to 24 teams from the usual 16. Clubs from 11 different counties and three provinces will be attending this year.
The hospitality to all clubs shown by the Malone family led by Michael's wife Lily over the past three years is renowned where refreshments are served for a donation to a charity of the family's choice.
With so many young talent on show this year the standard of football will be very high and hopefully a future All-Ireland winner will remember the day he spent in Cooley at the 'Bammel' Malone blitz and claiming it was a stepping stone to his success.
