Moynalvey picked up their second win of the 2017 reserve league when overcoming visitors Nobber on Wednesday evening 19th April.
Moynalvey 2-12 Nobber 1-12
Following two defeats in the opening two rounds, Moynalvey have now picked up two wins in succession defeating Navan O'Mahony's and Nobber in the 3rd and 4th rounds.
By the 11th minute Moynalvey had built up a 0-4 to 0-00 score lead, with points from Sean Duggan, two James O'Neill frees and a point from Shaun Deering which could easily have found the back of the net, as Deering's initial effort was saved by Dary Hutchison, with his second attempt deflected over the crossbar.
Declan Shields opened the visitor's account in the 12th minute, but the on form Sean Duggan hit 1-1 thereafter to leave Moynalvey leading by 1-5 to 0-1 after a quarter of an hour of play. Six points separated the sides at the break, 1-8 to 0-5, with Moynalvey's further three points before the half time whistle coming from Shaun Deering (2) and John Donoghue.
Within five minutes of the restart Moynalvey extended their advantage to ten points, with another Deering point and the goal coming from Donal Smith who fisted home from close range after Darragh Branigan's initial point attempt fell short. Points from Fearghal McCabe & Brian Regan in reply to Nobber points from Declan Shields & Aodhan McEntee maintained a ten point advantage, with fifteen minutes remaining.
Having dominating the game thus far, Moynalvey almost suffered a complete capitulation in the final quarter, with Nobber outgunning the home side 0-6 to 0-1. Five unanswered points in a row, saw the deficit narrowed to just three points after 55 minutes, with a James O'Neill free breaking the North Meath side's scoring patch. Nobber still had time to add a pointed free in the 58th minute; and with little additional time, Moynalvey were happy to hear the full time whistle as they were resisting sustained Nobber pressure in the final minutes.
Best for the winners were Scott Tuite, Darragh Branigan, Eamon Walsh, Fearghal McCabe, Shaun Deering and top scorer Sean Duggan.
