Donaghmore/Ashbourne 2-18 Rathkenny 1-17

Donaghmore Ashbourne came out on top in this high scoring and entertaining B League Div 3 game at Ashbourne on Wednesday evening.

Rathkenny raced into a three point to no score lead in the first five minutes, however the home side then settled and hit ten points without reply. Despite loosing Anthony Lynn and Cian Field to injury Don/Ash were ahead at half time by 2-13 to 0-8, with Eoin Caffrey accounting for 1-7, the other goal was scored by Jack Touhy.

Rathkenny made a blistering start to the second half scoring 1-4 without reply and also missed two more goal chances before being awarded a penalty which was expertly saved by Matty Davis. That save seemed to inspire the home side who then recovered and in a tense final twenty minutes the sides scored five points each leaving the final score line reading 2 -18 to 1-17.
