Hosts Simonstown had a very good opening quarter after which they led by 7 points on a score line of 2-1 to 0-1, the solitary Tones score coming from Saran O Fionnagáín. Indeed Simonstown could have been further ahead as they had a number of goal chances during this period which they failed to convert. The Tones forward line was also misfiring and a number of promising attacks broke down close to goal thanks to great defensive work from Simonstown. Tones improved in both attack and defense for the second quarter. Thomas Blaney kick started the revival with a great individual point and this was followed quickly by a well taken goal from Nathan Sheridan and another from Alan Lynam who finished a flowing move to bring Tones level on 2-2 each. Saran O Fionnagáin added 1-1 before half time while Simonstown added a point.
Half time score Bhulf Tón 3-3 Simonstown 2-3
The second half began in similar fashion to the first with Simonstown making the early running and they narrowed the gap by adding 2 points without reply. Remarkably this was to be their only score until the dying minutes as Tones took over completely. With Cian O Neill, Sarán O Fionnagáin, Caolan Ward, Eanna O Kelly Lynch, Mark Mc Fadden and Alan Lynam to the fore Tones dominated possession and gradually pulled away. A salvo of 4 goals, Sarán O Fionnagáin (2) and one each from Éanna O Kelly Lynch and Caolán Ward, in a 10 minute period at the beginning of the 3rd quarter left Simonstown with too much to do and Tones ran out convincing winners. Simonstown couldn't break down the Tones defence and Tones goalkeeper Laochra O fionnagáin made a number of fine saves to stave off any chances of a comeback.
