O'Leary ban confirmed

July 14, 2007

Cork defender Noel O'Leary
Cork defender Noel O'Leary has been handed a one-month for his part in an altercation with Kerry forward Paul Galvin during last month's Munster SFC final in Killarney. O'Leary was caught by the television cameras kicking out at Galvin, who was on the ground at the time. However, there was no action taken by the referee, as he didn't see the Cork defender's part in the incident, although Galvin did receive a yellow card. The talented wingback will now miss next weekend's All-Ireland quarterfinal after his four-week suspension was upheld by the Central Hearings Committee at a meeting in Croke Park last night. Cork will not know until tomorrow evening who they will play in the last eight, but one thing is for certain Billy Morgan and his management team must plan without O'Leary.
