Murray faces two-month ban

February 19, 2003
Cork football star Fionan Murray is expected to receive an eight-week suspension from the GAC on Wednesday, February 19 after being sent off in the National League opening round clash with Kerry on February 1. The corner forward has been reported by Kildare referee Michael Monahan for abusive language towards him which carries a two-month suspension. The St. Finbarr's clubman, who has requested a personal hearing, will be accompanied by Cork county board chairman Jim Forbes to tonight's meeting in Croke Park. If he receives an eight-week ban, it would take effect from the date of his last game against Roscommon last Sunday, meaning that he would not be eligible again until April 13.
