Cork star Daniel Goulding proved the difference for Eire Og last night as they overcame Nemo Rangers by 0-16 to 1-6 in the opening round of the Premier Intermediate Football Championship.

Goulding struck a 0-10 tally over the hour, with five of his points coming from open play, to help down Nemo, who were boosted by the inclusion of five-time All-Ireland winner Tomas O Se at centre-back.

The city side were 1-3 to 0-1 in front, with their goal coming from Cavan native Paddy Gumley, before Eire Og found their rhythm and went in at the break trailing by just one (1-5 to 0-7).

The second-half was one-way traffic and the would-be winners could even afford to squander three goal chances as Goulding and John Dinneen shot them to a comfortable victory in the end.
