No appeal against O'Leary red

February 08, 2011

Cork's Noel O'Leary will captain the Munster footballers on Sunday
Cork will not appeal the red card shown to maligned defender Noel O'Leary at the weekend - because no footage of the incident in question exists.

O'Leary found himself in hot water with officialdom once again when red-carded by Michael Duffy during Sunday's Allianz National Football League win over arch-rivals Kerry.

The 28-year-old was sent off for his part in a spat which also saw Kerry's Barry John Keane dismissed.

But Cork PRO Ger Lane admitted that the Cill na Martra man is likely to have to serve a mandatory four-week ban.

He told the Irish Examiner, "We have to wait on the referee's report but if there is no footage of what happened and therefore no evidence to the contrary there's not much that can be done."
