The O'Donovan Rossa senior footballers succumbed to their second
successive Kelleher Shield league defeat last Sunday afternoon away
to Glenville, on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-6.
Skibb failed to take advantage of playing with the elements in the
first half as they trailed to intermediate outfit Glenville by two
points at the interval. Skibb produced a better second half
performance but were hindered somewhat by their failure to translate
possession into scores. Colin Crowley notched the Skibb goal with a
fisted effort before Glenville secure the two league points with a
last gasp goal.

the Kelleher Shield is a home game against Na Piarsaigh on Sunday,
March 28. The senior footballers' first round championship clash
against Ilen Rovers, has been confirmed for Sunday, May 16, at 6.30pm
in Kilmacabea.
The Skibb junior 1 footballers produced a terrific performance in
comprehensively defeating Castletownbere in their first league outing
of the season played under lights in the Rossa Park last Friday
evening. Skibb emerged victorious on a 3-16 to 2-4 scoreline. Team:

O'Regan, Niall McCarthy snr, Mark Collins, Stevie Cotter, Sean
Carmody, Jonathan Davis, Rory O'Donovan, Noel Kearney, Paul Kearney,
D·ire O'Regan, David Shannon. The junior 1 footballers are scheduled
to play their second league game this Sunday afternoon, away to
Clonakilty at 3pm.
The junior 2 footballers mounted a superb comeback to begin their
league campaign with a narrow one point home win over Randal "g last
Saturday afternoon. Skibb playing against a stiff breeze in the first
half trailed by a mammoth seven points at the interval. Skibb started
the second half in rejuventated fashion notching seven successive
points in quick succesion to restore parity entering the final
quarter. Randals' full forward Fergal Kelly restored their lead with
five minutes remaining after pouncing for a close range goal. Skibb
showed their character and determination which resulted in John Paul
Reen converting a late penalty to tie the scores entering the final
minute. Skibb tacked on two further points to emerge narrow victors
after a thrilling encounter on a final scoreline of 1-16 to 2-12.

footballers resume league action when they travel to play Gabriel
Rangers in Ballydehob, this Saturday evening at 8.15pm.
The minor footballers were defeated by five points by Eire "g in
their premier 2 minor league game played last Sunday morning in Ovens
on a 2-10 to 2-5 scoreline. Paudie Crowley scored two goals (both
>from the penalty spot). The minor footballers next league assignment
is a home tie against St. Nicks scheduled for Sunday, March 28, at 2pm.
The junior hurlers continued their preparations for the impending
commencement of their league campaign with a two point defeat against
Clonakilty last Wednesday evening. The hurlers begin their league
programme with a home game scheduled for Sunday, March 21, against
championship opponents Ballinascarthy, at 3pm.
All players and supporters are reminded that membership is currently
due for the year. Membership which is mandatory for all players at
every grade for the coming year in order to ensure that all players
are covered whilst playing. The fees for the year are: E50 for family
membership, E30 individual and E15 for students, umeployed and OAPs.
The fourth year of the GAA lotto comes to an end in a couple of
weeks. Any people who wish to renew or join the lotto can contact any
club member for further details. There are three ways of joining
annually. The first option is the ëyearly ticket'. This option gives
the player the opportunity to pay for the year up front. The cost of
this option is e100 per ticket, with the added bonus of four free
draws over the course of the 52 weeks. Option two is the chance to
pay e25 every four months. The third option is to pay e50 every six
months.
Any overseas members who would like to join the annual subscription
to the GAA lotto can contact any club member for further information
on how to join. The club would like to thank everyone who takes part
in the GAA lotto on a weekly basis. The finance garnered from the GAA
lotto draw is very much necessary as costs have increased enormously
in the running of the club in recent years.
There was no winner of the lotto draw which took place in The Paragon
Bar, last Monday night for e2,500. The numbers drawn were 7, 12, 19
and 21. The consolation prize winner was Anne Breen. Next week's
lotto draw will be held in Kearney's Well, and will have a jackpot of
e2,750.
