Miskella to miss Monaghan trip

Cork's John Miskella
Cork are set to be without John Miskella for the early stages of their National Football League campaign.

The defender is suffering from a groin injury which will rule him out of this Sunday's trip to Scotstown, where there is set to be a repeat of last year's Division Two final between the Rebels and Seamus McEnaney's Monaghan.

"Johnny is in a bit of bother with a groin injury. He's going to be out for a while," explained Counihan.

Along with Miskella, 2009 captain Graham Canty also looks set to miss Cork's Division One opener through injury and along with having no games in the McGrath Cup this season, Conor Counihan has admitted that the situation has left his team "a bit disjointed".

However, the Rebel boss is still confident heading into the 2010 season with the players he has at his disposal.

"If we could get the right approach and the right commitment we won't be changing much. There would have to be an element of change but nothing major. It's going to be difficult to come back because the dominance of a small number of teams is gone. Anyone of ten teams could probably win it, not like years ago," he said.
