Clare chairman Michael McDonagh has refuted suggestions that clubs are not being allowed voice their opinion at county board meetings.

McDonagh came in for criticism after Davy Fitzgerald was reappointed hurling manager without the clubs being consulted.

In an interview with the Clare Champion, McDonagh said: "I'm not running a dictatorship.

"All I can say at this stage is, I will let every issue be discussed but I'm not going to tell clubs what to bring up at a county board meeting. That's their business. My business is to chair it.

"If anybody wants to raise any issues whatsoever, then I will chair the meeting and anything can be raised. I have never yet stopped any issue being raised at a county board meeting or any discussion taking place.

"I will allow a debate on any subject or on any management at the county board meeting. We have never stopped that. Whatever clubs want to raise, they can raise it."
