O'Donnell: we're an extremely tight-knit group

So far this year, Clare have made the headlines for all the wrong reasons but Shane O'Donnell says they are in good shape ahead of Sunday's Munster SHC clash against Limerick.

The furore over the disciplinary row involving Davy O'Halloran and Nicky O'Connell was compounded by the Banner County's relegation from Division 1A.

"We were disappointed with the League campaign," O'Donnell admitted to The Irish Independent.

"But towards the end of it, things started to come together and we seemed to be going well.

"That Kilkenny game (relegation play-off) was near Championship pace. We were disappointed at the end but it was close to where we wanted to get."

Meanwhile, the 2013 All-Ireland final replay goal hero insists the O'Halloran/O'Connell saga is water under the bridge.

"We were all fairly content with everything that was dealt with. We didn't get involved. Everybody was fairly happy with it.

"I'm not going to say it brought us together more because we're an extremely tight-knit group, as any inter-county squad is."
