Clare footballer Enda Coughlan has targeted March 5th as his comeback date following a serious knee injury.

Last July, Coughlan suffered the dreaded cruciate injury when playing for his club Doonbeg against Kilkee in the Clare SFC last July.

It has been a long road back for the 29-year-old but he revealed to the Clare Champion that he was hoping to make it back for the beginning of March.

"It's hard to say. I should be clear to go back fully into it. Then it's about getting back to match practice. With all of the running I'd be fit enough but getting match sharpness and trusting it is the hardest thing to do," said Coughlan.

"That's up to yourself. They can't tell you any time frame on that. You don't really miss football until it's taken away from you for this long. I'd love to play in Division Three. If I could get myself right and could do anything to help the team in the last few league games or championship, that would be great.

"But at my age, the main thing is that it doesn't go again or that you don't do any more damage. That could spell the end."
