A Munster championship double-header involving the Limerick and Clare hurling and football teams at the Gaelic Grounds next summer is a non-runner according to Limerick secretary Mike O'Riordan.

The neighbouring counties have been drawn against each other in next year's Munster SHC and SFC quarter-finals, but O'Riordan pointed out to the Limerick Leader that Clare are due home advantage in the football tie, meaning John Brudair's men will have to travel to Ennis.
Cusack Park's restricted capacity means it would not be fit to host a Limerick-Clare championship double-header, but the Gaelic Grounds would be more than capable of holding the crowd with its 49,000-capacity.

However, it appears likely that the hurling clash with end up in Semple Stadium.

"We would be looking for the football on the Saturday evening and the hurling the following afternoon," O'Riordan explained.

"Of course we would love to have both Clare games in the Gaelic Grounds but that is unlikely."

The dates and venues for all 2015 Munster championship games will be confirmed in early November.
