Ephie Fitzgerald is excited at the prospect of joining the Clare senior football backroom team.
Fitzgerald - who led Ballylanders to Limerick glory last Sunday - will replace fellow Cork man Paudie Kissane as Colm Collins' football coach and the four-time Cork championship winning Nemo Rangers manager believes there is plenty of potential in the Banner County.
"The job was advertised so I put my name forward and I met Colm Collins last week, so it has happened fairly quickly," he informed The Examiner.
"Obviously, I was involved as a coach with Limerick before, which I enjoyed, and I was with the Cork minors but I took the Ballylanders job because I felt I had unfinished business up there.
"There's a great age-profile in the Clare squad, they're young and talented. They ran Kerry close last year and were unlucky to lose to Kildare in the qualifiers you could say, so there's a good base and we'd hope to build on that.
"I was impressed with Colm, he seems very organised and I'm hopeful about seeing where this leads."
